Directing - Porfolio Exercise 7 Comments on other work

Portfolio Exercise 7 – Notes and comments on viewed pieces of work.

Henry Cole – Sickend Garden

Grey/Slow moving, not much understanding of what is happening within the 10 shots.

There wasn’t any audio when we first watched the Sickend Garden I assumed that the sounds would have been quite eerie with sound effects such as rustling leaves and crunching of leaves. Second time round watching the movie the sound had been fixed and found that there was a heavy metal/rock sound track over the shots. Very unexpected.

Todd Gledhill – After Death

Abstract with animation within the shots camera movement was good, showing the pixelated shot zooming out from the animated shot to the original image of the dog. Again there was no audio on the original viewing however second time round, the audio was very fitting for a film featuring death.

Blaise Hure

Good story being followed, well composed, good sound/shots/lighting. First impressions that is was very dark but I decided that it all fitted in quite well, showing the wake up from darkness to light.

James Wolley

First impression was, ‘not another morning lest get out of bed and make breakfast film. However the making of an edam sandwich in a dream, made the film a lot more interesting and amusing. The audio track was well composed and fitted well to the selection of shots used.
